Bar Spirits
Set in Shinbashi, Bar Spirits serves Cuban cigars alongside Okinawa rum mojitos, recommended single malts, and slow-crafted bites such as house-smoked cheese.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Just as the tip of a cigar catches light, an Okinawa rum mojito makes an ideal opening order. Located on the 2th floor of a multi-tenant building in Shinbashi, Bar Spirits stocks around 20 varieties of Cuban cigars sourced via authorized distributors, proposing tailored pours as each cigar burns down. After starting with a fresh, aromatic mojito, you might transition to the day's recommended single malt whisky once the ash has lengthened. Toward the finish, the bartender suggests drinks like the house original "Otoko no Kahlua Milk," accented with rich coffee depth and toned-down sweetness, creating an unhurried rhythm built around the life of a single smoke.
Because the bartender gladly explains cigar cutting, lighting, and smoking etiquette, even first-time visitors to a cigar bar or solo patrons can step inside without hesitation. Behind the bar, an array of whiskies and spirits shares shelf space with characterful finds like rare Japanese absinthe and craft gin infused with fresh hops, offering plenty of depth even for someone stopping in for just a drink.
The house-made snacks, crafted to heighten the aromas of drink and smoke alike, are equally compelling. Highlights include cheese smoked for 3 hours over Scottish peat and cherrywood chips, house beef jerky requiring 3 days to finish followed by 1 weeks of aging, and melting rum-scented raisin butter. Anchored by a long wooden counter, the room provides a grounded retreat where you can slow down and regain your own pace as the night wears on.
